WINTHROP, Mass. – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) has announced that Dean College field hockey's Keira Houdegbe (West Lebanon, N.H.) has been named this week's GNAC Defensive Player of the Week. This is the first weekly honor of Houdegbe's career.

Since the start of the season, Houdegbe has seamlessly transitioned to her new role of center back. In four games for the Bulldogs, Houdegbe has collected three defensive saves and one shot. She's also averaging close to one defensive save per game.

The highlight of her season came on Saturday against Mount Holyoke College. On an aerial shot, Houdegbe knocked the ball out of the air, preserving the scoreless game.

In her career, Houdegbe has made 54 total starts, accumulating nearly 3,000 minutes played and eight defensive saves. This season, she currently sits second in the GNAC for defensive saves made.

The West Lebanon, New Hampshire native graduated from Lebanon High School and played field hockey for the Raiders.
