Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Yazzetti Nets 100th Career Point; Field Hockey Moves to 3-0 with Victory Over Warriors

FRANKLIN, Mass. – Junior Emily Yazzetti (Mahopac, N.Y.) added to her historic resume on Wednesday afternoon, scoring her 100th career point to help field hockey secure a 3-1 victory against Eastern Connecticut State University. With the win, the Bulldogs moved to 3-0 on the year, while the Warriors dropped to 1-2.

Notables:
-With her 100th career point, Yazzetti becomes the first player in field hockey's program history to reach the triple-digit milestone.
-Field hockey also secured their best start in program history with the win (3-0), surpassing their previous best 2-1 start from last year.

How it Happened:
-Dean wasted little time establishing pressure in the opening quarter. After Jaidyn Seitzer (Nottingham, N.H.) and Yazzetti each recorded shots during an early offensive push, Hailey Lamping (Stanfordville, N.Y.) opened the scoring at 6:28. She finished a feed from Emily Kilpatrick (Marion, Mass.) to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead.
-The Warriors answered midway through the second quarter. Ada Ellis scored at 21:39, briefly bringing the game level. Dean responded just 1:20 later, as Yazzetti put the Bulldogs back in front with her 100th career point. Dean carried the 2-1 advantage into halftime.
-Dean continued to apply pressure after the break, generating four shots and two penalty corners in the third quarter. Lamping had a pair of opportunities during the period, including a shot on goal that was turned aside by Eastern Connecticut goalkeeper Kate Paradise. Keira Houdegbe (West Lebanon, N.H.) also made a key defensive contribution, recording a defensive save to help preserve Dean's one-goal advantage.
-The Bulldogs added some insurance early in the fourth quarter. Following another Dean penalty corner, Seitzer set up Kilpatrick, who found the back of the cage at 46:15 to extend the lead to 3-1. It marked Kilpatrick's second goal of the season and gave her a goal and an assist on the afternoon.
-Dean's defense and Sara Gardner (Hampstead, Md.) took care of the rest. Gardner finished with four saves while the Bulldogs held Eastern Connecticut scoreless over the final 38 minutes. Dean continued to generate chances late, with Seitzer forcing another save in the final minute as the Bulldogs closed out the 3-1 victory.
