THE LEAD:
Dean College sophomore Lauryn Wilks (Hartford, Conn.) scored the first goal of the game 52 seconds after the opening faceoff, but Massachusetts Maritime dominated the rest of the action, cruising to a 21-1 victory over the visiting Bulldogs in non-conference action on Thursday night.  

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Wilks marker came unassisted in the opening minute to give the Bulldogs an early 1-0 lead.  Mass. Maritime responded a minute later when Cammi Balentine finished a feed from Olivia Noonan to knot the score at 1.

A free position goal from Casey Sullivan extended the hosts lead to 2-1 and moments later Balentine scored again to swell the advantage to 3-1. The Buccaneers scored the next eight goals to close the half with an 11-1 cushion.

Sullivan scored four more goals in the second half as the Buccaneers controlled play and raced to the victory. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Wilks led the Bulldogs with three shots on goal and five draw controls, while Makayla Fisher (Irvington, N.J.) added two shots and two draw controls. 
Jamaya Cleveland (Greensboro, Ga.) made 11 saves on 32 shots. 

Massachusetts Maritime outmatched the Bulldogs on groundballs (25-9) and held a 39-7 advantage in shots.  The hosts won 16 of 24 draw controls and committed 16 turnovers to Dean's 28.
