Emma Mock Scores 50th Career Goal in Bulldogs’ First Win of Season Over Elms, 8-6

FRANKLIN, Mass. – The Dean College women's lacrosse team snagged their first win of the season on Wednesday afternoon, defeating Elms College by a final score of 8-6. With the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victory, the Bulldogs improved to 1-5 (1-3 GNAC), while the Blazers dropped to 0-8 (0-6 GNAC).

Notables:
-Senior midfielder Emma Mock (Tunkhannock, Pa.) scored her 50th goal in the team's win. The goal came on a man-up effort, assisted by first-year Ali Murphy (Middleboro, Mass.).

How it Happened:
-The Bulldogs scored the game's first goal in less than 60 seconds. Allie Stockwell (Burrillville, R.I.) netted the score, unassisted. This was the second time that the Bulldogs led first in a game this year.
-This first goal initiated a 7-0 Bulldog run that ran through the opening minutes of the third quarter. Dean scored one more goal in the first frame. This was Mock's 50th of her career.
-In the second quarter, Dean scored three more goals. Both Stockwell and Mock scored again, followed by a tally from junior Caroline [MS1] Ramsey (Shreveport, La.). By the end of the first half, it was 5-0 Bulldogs.
-The Bulldogs continued their unanswered scoring run in the third with a pair of goals. Murphy netted both goals, and Mock collected an assist on the second goal.
-However, the Blazers began their response shortly after. Jackie Cronin netted back-to-back goals, followed by a score from Amanda Reed at the start of the fourth. Suddenly, Elms was within three goals.
-Rachel Dort netted another Elms goal with 9:45 left to play, making it 7-5. This was met by a fearsome Dean response. Bella McQuade (Attleboro, Mass.) scored an unassisted goal to put Dean up by three again.
-The highlight of the game was the impressive play from goalkeeper Shea Cassani (Belgrade, Maine). The junior slammed the door on the Blazers' attack with an impressive 20 save performance.
-Despite one more Elms goal with 40 seconds remaining, the Bulldogs held their ground to secure the 8-6 win.
