Ali Murphy Scores Four Goals in Road Loss to Regis Pride, 13-7

WESTON, Mass. – The Dean College women's lacrosse team was defeated in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play by Regis College on Tuesday afternoon by a final score of 13-7. With the loss, Dean drops to 1-7 overall (1-5 GNAC), while the Pride improve to 2-6 (2-5 GNAC).
 
Notables:
-First-year Ali Murphy (Middleboro, Mass.) scored four goals in the game, marking the first hat trick of her collegiate career. She now has 11 goals and 13 total points on the season.

How it Happened:
-Dean battled from the opening draw, but Regis used a strong start in the first quarter to build an early advantage. Maddie Sainato scored twice in the first frame to make it 4-1. Caroline Ramsey (Shreveport, La.) scored Dean's first goal.
-The Bulldogs worked to settle in offensively, with Emma Mock (Tunkhannock, Pa.) helping generate early scoring opportunities to keep Dean within reach.
-In the second quarter, Dean showed improved ball movement and composure, as Bella McQuade (Attleboro, Mass.) converted a scoring chance to cut into the deficit.
-Despite the effort, Regis maintained its lead heading into halftime after capitalizing on key scoring opportunities, 8-2
-Coming out of the break, Dean responded with one of its strongest stretches in the third quarter, adding multiple goals as Murphy and Mock continued to lead the attack. The Bulldogs matched Regis' scoring efforts in the third, 3-3.
-In the fourth quarter, Dean continued to compete, generating offensive looks and adding to its total. Two more goals from Mock and Murphy gave the Bulldogs seven on the afternoon. Their goals in the final frame also matched Regis once again. Both sides scored five goals throughout the entire second half.
-In goal, Shea Cassani made several key saves while facing a high volume of shots, helping keep the Bulldogs in the game.
-Despite an impressive second half, Dean's first half ultimately cost them the win. Regis took the game by a final score of 13-7.
