THE LEAD:
Visiting Wheelock College raced out to a 12-1 halftime lead and the Wildcats never looked back, taking a 19-2 win over Dean College in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) women's lacrosse action on Wednesday afternoon.
Wheelock won for the third time in their last four games, and improved to 4-0 in conference action and stay half of a game in front of second place Elms College (3-0).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Wildcats scored the game's first eight goals as Katelyn Dickson, Collen MacDonald and Georgia Schindele all scored twice in the opening flurry.
Genesis Johnson (Norwalk, Conn.) connected with Makayla Fisher (Irvington, N.J.) for her 13th goal of the season to snap Wheelock's scoring spree.
Alexah Mellis, Katie Frade and MacDonald all found the back of the net in the final seven minutes before the half ended to push the visitor's lead out to 11 at halftime.
In front 12-1, the Wildcats scored six straight goals to open the second half, including a pair from Alexandra Clark.
Dean did get on the board again when Lauryn Wilks (Hartford, Conn.) deposited her team-leading 18th marker of the year with less than five minutes to play.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Both Schindele had a monster afternoon, totaling four goals and three assists, while MacDonald tallied four of her own and Dickson ended with two goals and four assists.
