New Rochelle, NY.- An 18-2 run in late in the second period broke open a tight contest and propelled the Dean College Bulldogs to a 70-50 win over the College of New Rochelle on Wednesday.  The win was Dean's 6th straight, stretching all the way back to January 28th.

The Bulldogs were led by 15 points and 14 rebounds from Denisha Gardener.  She shot a precise 6-8 from the field and also added 3 blocks.  Fataya Larry also registered a double-double with 10 points and 10 boards.  Vianah Smith had 12 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals, and Sophia Corbitt pitched in 10 points from the bench.

The game began as a back and forth battle.  The teams traded baskets throughout the first quarter.  A 3 pointer from Smith at the 3:24 mark gave the Bulldogs a 12-10 lead.  They finished the quarter up 18-14.

New Rochelle kept pace early in the second period, but eventually the Bulldogs would break it open.  An 18-2 run stretched Dean's lead from 4 to 20.  Larry's jumper with 33 ticks remaining capped the run and put Dean ahead 38-18.  Two free throws from New Rochelle sent us into the half at 38-20.

Back to back threes from Dar'neisha Brice pulled New Rochelle to within 12 early in the third quarter but Dean responded with a 17-0 run to stretch their lead to 29 and put the game away.  Gardener scored 8 of her 15 points during this spurt.

The win improves the Bulldogs season record to 19-7.
