Three-Point Shots Prove Costly in Women’s Basketball’s 105-57 Loss to Monks

FRANKLIN, Mass. – The Dean College women's basketball team was defeated in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play by Saint Joseph's College of Maine on Saturday afternoon, 105-57. With the loss, Dean drops to 7-14 (2-6 GNAC), while the Monks improve to 11-10 (6-2 GNAC).

How it Happened:
-Dean was the first team to enter the scoring side of the box score. Jordan Ellis (Bridgeport, Conn.) drilled a deep three-pointer that gave them the 3-0 lead. Maddie Russell of Saint Joseph's quickly responded with a basket of her own.
-Ellis eventually had six of Dean's first ten points, all of which from beyond the arc. Abigail Lacy (Arroyo Grande, Calif.) had the other four.
-However, despite the strong start by the Bulldogs' offense, the Monks began to run away with the score. Logan Brown kicked off a career performance, shooting over 60 percent from the field and 6-8 from three. She finished the game with an impressive 34 points and 12-17 shooting from the field.
-Kenzie Sherburne (Durham, N.Y.) had a strong second quarter for the Bulldogs. The first-year guard shot a perfect 2-2 from the field, 2-2 from three, and led the team in scoring (six points).
-On the back of Brown, the Monks led Dean 57-35 at the end of the first half.
-Saint Joseph's continued their run in the second half, outscoring the Bulldogs 48-22. Logan Brown had a perfect fourth quarter, scoring 14 points while shooting 5-5 from the field.
-Dean made a strong run at the start of the fourth quarter. Lacy helped Dean get out to a 5-0 run, scoring all five points by herself. She eventually finished the quarter with seven total points.
-Despite the valiant finish from Dean, the Monks walked away victorious with a final score of 105-57.
