Women’s Basketball Stymied by Emmanuel in Conference Play, 103-63

FRANKLIN, Mass. – The Dean College women's basketball team was defeated by Emmanuel College (Mass.) on Wednesday evening inside Pieri Gymnasium. With the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) loss, Dean falls to 7-15 (2-7 GNAC), while the Saints improve to 16-6 (9-0 GNAC).

How it Happened:
-Both sides exchanged scores through the opening five minutes. Dean saw three different players find their way into the box score in that span. Azaria Landry (Lacey, Wash.) grabbed Dean's first basket, followed by a strong layup by Abigail Lacy (Arroyo Grande, Calif.). Kenzie Sherburne (Durham, N.Y.) also had a quick score.
-With six minutes to play in the first quarter, the Saints began to run away. Megan Reilly grabbed a quick basket inside the paint, followed by a three-point conversion from Lia Krumian.
-Dean kept within range with scores from Jordan Ellis (Bridgeport, Conn.) and Kendrah Doane (New Salem, Mass.), but Emmanuel ended the frame with a 26-15 lead.
-The second quarter ultimately gave the Saints the victory. They outscored the Bulldogs 30-9 while shooting just under 60 percent from the field.
-Doane led Dean's scoring in the second quarter with four points. Lacy followed closely with three.
-At the end of the first half, Emmanuel led Dean by a score of 56-24.
-The Bulldogs found new life entering the second half. Dean scored 18 points in the frame while keeping the Saints away from the free throw line. In fact, Dean only committed one foul in the entire quarter.
-Landry led Dean's third quarter scoring efforts with seven points.
-Dean once again surged into the final quarter, falling just under Emmanuel in scoring (24-21). Lacy and Landry picked up nine points each and had four combined rebounds.
-However, their second half efforts fell short. Emmanuel extended their lead in the final minutes to seal the win by a final score of 103-63.
