NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Dean College women's basketball team fell on the road in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play to Albertus Magnus College on Tuesday evening. The 87-65 final score dropped the Bulldogs to 7-17 (2-9 GNAC), while the Falcons improved to 7-17 (6-5 GNAC).
Notables:
-Junior
Jordan Ellis (Bridgeport, Conn.). scored her seventh double-double of the season, posting 18 points and 11 rebounds. She has tied program alumnus
Alexandria Paquet (Santa Maria, Calif.) for second place, all-time, in single season double-doubles.
How it Happened:
-The Falcons opened the game with a 5-0 run, including scores from Isabella Fiorillo and Ava Johnson. Shortly after, Dean found the box score on consecutive scores by
Abigail Lacy (Arroyo Grande, Calif.) and Ellis.
-The Bulldogs kept pace throughout much of the first quarter, holding the Falcons to a six-point advantage. Ellis led the Bulldogs in this frame with seven points.
Kendrah Doane (New Salem, Mass.) picked up three assists.
-Albertus Magus led at the end of the first quarter by a score of 23-15.
-The Bulldogs rallied back in the second, outscoring the Falcons 21-16. Ellis once again led the charge with 10 points, followed by
Kenzie Sherburne (Durham, N.Y.) with five.
-Dean had large success underneath the rim during the second quarter. As a team, the Bulldogs collected 14 total rebounds, eventually contributing to their 14 points on second-chance baskets.
-At the end of the first half, Albertus Magnus only held a three-point lead over Dean, 39-36.
-The Falcons stormed back into the game in the third quarter. They outscored Dean 27-14 while collecting 15 combined rebounds.
-Dean continued to stay aggressive from the field but fell short on over half their shots from the field. Sherburne led scoring for Dean with five points.
-Lacy finished the game strong for the Bulldogs, scoring five more points to complete her fourth double-double of the season.
-Albertus closed out the game in the final quarter to win by a final score of 88-78.
