Women’s Basketball Defeated in Senior Day Finale by Pride, 86-73

FRANKLIN, Mass. – The Dean College women's basketball team was defeated in their season finale by the Regis College Pride. The 86-73 loss on Senior Day put Dean at a final record of 7-18 (2-10 GNAC), while the Pride finished at 12-13 (9-3 GNAC).

Notables:
-Prior to the game, the Dean College Department of Athletics & Recreation recognized senior Abigail Lacy (Arroyo Grande, Calif.), who will graduate from Dean in May. Lacy played in her final game with the Bulldogs, posting 29 points and nine rebounds.
-Junior Jordan Ellis (Bridgeport, Conn.) recorded her eighth double-double of the season on Saturday, putting her second place in program history for double-doubles in a single season. She finished the game with 16 points and a staggering 13 rebounds.

How it Happened:
-Junior guard Azaria Landry (Lacey, Wash.) opened the game's scoring with a layup at the glass. She would be shortly followed by a pair of free throws from Ellis. However, Regis' Zoey Swanson and Madi Zancan recorded scores of their own, keeping the score even.
-Swanson and Zancan's scores prompted a 12-0 run by Regis, giving them an impressive 22-8 lead. The Pride remained in the driver's seat through the first quarter with a score of 26-10.
-Kenzie Sherburne (Durham, N.Y.) scored the first basket of the second quarter, subsequently followed by another layup from Zancan. Lacy also jumped into the action with a three-point shot, cutting the Regis lead to 14 points.
-However, Regis continued to produce from the field, negating Lacy's progress and bringing their lead back to 18 points. This included scores from Kailyn Smith and Jordan Striggles.
-Dean vigilantly responded, creating a 10-2 run to bring the margin back to 10 points. Lacy led the effort, scoring eight of Dean's ten points.
-Lacy finished the first half with an astounding 18 points, keeping the Bulldogs within striking distance. Regis led at the end of the first half by a score of 47-28.
-The Bulldogs continued their scoring ways coming out of the locker room. They outscored Regis 22-14 while shooting 50 percent from the field. They also went on several runs throughout the quarter, including an 8-0 run at the beginning of the frame. Before they knew it, they brought the Regis lead to less than 10 points.
-Dean continued to score in the final frame with 23 points. Lacy led the Bulldogs in scoring with seven points, finishing the day with 29 total.
