Winthrop, MA- The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) has announced that three Dean College baseball players have been selected to the All-Conference Roster.
Jadon Murakami (Aiea, HI) earned 2
nd-team honors,
Rylan Secovich (Southwick, MA) made the third team, and
Nick Amendolara (Bayville, NY) earned All-Sportsmanship honors.
Murakami, just finishing his freshman campaign, put together one of the best seasons the program has seen from a first-year player. In 31 starts for the Bulldogs, Murakami posted a stellar .345 batting average, 38 hits, seven extra-base hits, and an on-base percentage of .451. The Hawaiian also led all Dean freshman in average, hits and runs scored. The only other player to earn a higher batting average than Murakami was Secovich.
Speaking of Secovich, the rising junior put on one of the best seasons the baseball program has ever seen. To conclude the year, Secovich broke three program records in 24 hours, shattering Dean's single season stolen base record (30), all-time stolen record (44), and record for most hits in a single season (55).
In 38 games for the Bulldogs, Secovich posted a team-high .369 batting average, accompanied by his 30 stolen bases, 25 RBIs, and 15 extra-base hits. He also posted an on-base percentage of .429. His batting average of .369 finished at 11
th-best in the GNAC, while his stolen base total only finished one short of the conference lead. This is his first All-Conference selection after making the GNAC All-Rookie Team last season.
Amendolara, recently completing his junior season, became a key component behind the plate for Dean. In 35 starts, Amendolara produced a .268 average at the dish, along with 28 RBIs, 34 hits, and two home runs. He also posted a .401 on-base percentage. This is Amendolara's first All-Conference selection.
