Franklin, MA- After another strong outing versus Fitchburg State University, Dean College baseball sophomore
Rylan Secovich (Southwick, MA) has shattered the program's all-time and single-season stolen base records. He also becomes the first player in program history to reach 30 stolen bases in a single season and 40 career stolen bases.
Secovich, just a sophomore, has been one of the most impactful members on the baseball roster. In his first season as a Bulldog, the outfielder posted an impressive .301 batting average, 10 RBIs, and 14 stolen bases. He increased his hitting effectiveness by nearly 25 percent this season, sporting a .368 average.
However, the real progress arrived with his stolen base count this season. With one game still to-go, Secovich has posted a total of 30 stolen bases, breaking the program's single-season record and becoming the first player in program history to reach the milestone. Compared to his 2024 total, Secovich has seen an increase of close to 115 percent.
When combined with his first-year numbers, Secovich has a combined 44 stolen bases, becoming the first player in program history to reach 40 stolen bags.
Both milestones have shattered the program's previous benchmarks. Travis Dinsdale (Worcester, MA) held the previous single-season record at 20, as well as the previous record at 24.
The Southwick, Massachusetts native was recently named the baseball team's MVP at the Athletics & Recreation Award Ceremony. He was also named to the 2024 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) All-Rookie Team in his freshman season.
