Box Score EAST LONGMEADOW, Mass. - September 1, 2021 - The Dean College women's volleyball team returned to the court, after almost two years removed from its last competition, to begin the 2021 season at Bay Path. The Wildcats prevailed 3-1 by scores of 25-22, 25-22, 19-25 and 25-20.
Dean (0-1) travels to Fitchburg State on Friday for a 6 p.m. first serve.
The match was back and forht throughout with neither team able to gain a wide advantage. After Bay Path edged the Bulldogs by identical 25-22 scores in the first and second sets, Dean battled back to take the third set by a 25-19 score. The home team secured the 3-1 win with another tight set in the fourth, 25-20.
Several student-athletes saw action for the first time in a Bulldogs uniform Wednesday evening. In addition, Mark Ledwich coached his first match on the Dean sideline.
Junior Sari Albury (Nassau, Bahamas) led the Bulldogs attack with a match high 13 kills. She added nine digs and a block. First-year Emily Ball (Feeding Hills, Mass.) was second on Dean with six kills.
Sophomore setter Anabella Driscoll (Plymouth, Mass.) notched a double-double with a match best 24 assists to go with 10 digs. Senior Amanda Payne (Millis, Mass.) posted a team best 20 digs.
Bay Path was led by a 13-kill performance from Zyiasia Knighton. Lilly Kibbe contributed eight kills and 20 digs, while Joanna Bampi picked up a match high 24 digs.
