Seymour Nets Double-Double; Women’s Volleyball Picks Up First Win of Season Against Blazers

FRANKLIN, Mass. – Junior Maddy Seymour (Simsbury, Conn.) rose to the occasion on Thursday evening, picking up 14 kills and 15 total DIGs to help give the Dean College women's volleyball team their first win of the season. The team took down Elms College by a final score of 3-1 (25-23 / 19-25 / 25-18 / 25=19) and moved to 1-12 overall (1-4 GNAC). Meanwhile, the Blazers moved to 2-8 overall (1-3 GNAC).  
 
How it Happened:
-Dean opened the match with a competitive first set, edging Elms 25-23. Seymour led the Bulldogs' attack throughout the match, finishing with a team-high 14 kills. Angelina Steiger (Oxford, Mass.) contributed eight kills, while Ali Murphy (Middleboro, Mass.) added six.
-The Bulldogs' first set was also highlighted by their success at the service line. Sophomore Lily Miller (Cape Cod Mass.) recorded several service aces, adding onto their point total. She finished the match with a career-high five aces.
-Elms answered in the second set, earning a 25-19 win to even the match at one set apiece.
-The Bulldogs took command in the third set, winning 25-18. Dean recorded 10 kills with just two errors in the frame, posting a .276 hitting percentage. Seymour and Steiger helped pace the attack as the Bulldogs moved within one set of the victory.
-Dean closed out the match with a 25-19 win in the fourth set. The Bulldogs recorded 10 kills without committing an attack error, hitting an impressive .357 in the decisive frame to secure the 3-1 victory.
-Both Dean setters finished the night with impressive outings. Emma Siniscalchi (Huntington, N.Y.) directed the offense with 18 assists and Miller added 13 assists. Their efforts helped Dean finish with 40 total kills and 11 combined service aces.
-At the net, Murphy made a significant impact with five total blocks. Meanwhile, senior Chloe Demaio (Needham, Mass.) added three of her own.
