THE LEAD:
Molly Madore scored a goal in each half and visiting Southern Vermont registered a 2-0 win over Dean College in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) women's soccer action on Saturday afternoon.
The Bulldogs, playing in their final home game of the season, honored their lone senior – Janyssa Reyes (Hyde Park, Mass.) prior to the start of the game.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Things were scoreless until late in the first half when Madore deposited her third goal of the season into the back of the net with help from Maddie Gibney at 39:09.
The game stayed that way until a little less than 15 minutes had elapsed in the second half when Rileigh Griffiths connected with Maodre for her second tally of the afternoon at 59:44.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
The Mountaineers held a 21-0 edge in shots and an 11-1 difference in corner kicks. Macy Parisee (East Freetown, Mass.) ended with nine saves in goal for the hosts, while her counterpart, Taylor Jarosz didn't need to make a save to secure the victory.
UP NEXT:
The Bulldogs will return to action on Wednesday for their regular season final against Newbury College. That game is slated to take place at the Union Point Sports Complex in Weymouth, Mass. First touch is slated for 8:00 PM. Southern Vermont, meanwhile, sees their regular season end on Wednesday at home against Bay Path.
