Franklin, MA- The Dean College Women's Soccer team was defeated by Regis College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action Wednesday afternoon. With the loss, Dean drops to 2-12-2 (1-9-1 GNAC), while the Pride improve to 8-7-2 (6-4-1 GNAC).
How it Happened:
-Regis would score the first goal of the match just over 90 seconds in. Julia Benvegnu found the back of the net off an assist from Alexis Sherry.Â
-Just under five minutes later, the Pride would score again. Benvegnu scored her second of the match, assisted by Sienna Santiago, to give Regis the quick 2-0 lead.
-The Pride would maintain control of the first half, but Dean went into the break with some momentum. First-year
Sarah Fortin (Farmington, CT) managed to get one quick shot on-goal. Goalkeeper Cassidy Van Cott made the save, but it gave Dean some life going into halftime.Â
-Senior
Lexi Gerow (Pownal, VT) would enter goal for the Bulldogs in the second half, relieving junior
Danielle Reinhard (Las Vegas, NV).
-The Pride continued on their charge to begin the second half, securing five shots and a corner kick within the first five minutes. However, Gerow stood tall, making consecutive stops.
-Dean would also kick start offensive opportunities in the second half.
Kacie Consolini (Stafford Springs, CT) recorded shot on-goal, followed by a corner kick from
Kassidy Martins (East Providence, RI). However, Regis' Leah Snyder would crack the momentum with a goal of her own, making it 3-0 Pride.
-Regis would score two more times in the match to secure a 5-0 victory. Lindsay Burnham would net her first of the match, followed by Delaney Scanlon in the 84th minute.Â
