Newton, MA- The Dean College Women's Soccer team was defeated in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play by Lasell University in an 0-3 final score. Dean now drops to 2-13-2 (1-10-1) on the season with the loss, while the Lasers improve to 11-2-2 overall (10-1-1 GNAC).
How it Happened:
-Throughout the course of the first half, Lasell would control the pace of offensive play. The Lasers would record 19 total shots in the first slate, including at goal in the 30th minute. Brianna Marrero would net her first goal of the season to give Lasell the 1-0 advantage.
-Dean however, would try and tie the match shortly after Marrero's goal. Junior
Kacie Consolini (Stafford Springs, CT) would net a strong shot inside the box, but it was quickly saved by keeper Elizabeth DaSilva. With the shot being unsuccessful, Dean trailed Lasell 1-0 going into halftime.
-Lasell would score nearly six minutes after the break to make it 2-0. Ayla Hathaway scored an unassisted goal, marking her first of the match and 11th on the year.
-The Lasers would have 14 more chances in the second half and one more goal. Peyton Joyce found the back of the net, assisted by Camdyn LaMarre. Goalkeeper
Lexi Gerow (Pownal, VT) provided a valiant effort in-goal, but Lasell ultimately got the best of the Dean defense. The goal in the 84th minute would push Lasell over Dean by a final score of 3-0.
