Box Score 2 FRANKLIN, Mass.- The Dean College Bulldogs split a doubleheader with UMaine Presque Isle on Friday, falling in game one 7-4 and rebounding for an 8-4 victory in game two.
Dean is now 15-15-2 on the year as they head into a final doubleheader Saturday with Newbury College.
Maine Presque Isle jumped on Dean in the first game with a big fifth inning rally. Trailing 1-0, the Owls scored 5 runs, capped by a two run double from Martin Egan.
Dean got two back in the bottom of the fifth on a two run homer from Connor Callery, but two more runs from the Owls in the sixth put the game out of reach.
Jose Quiroz went 7 innings for the Bulldogs, allowing 11 hits and 7 runs (5 earned). He took the loss. Saul Nunez threw a complete game for Maine-Presque Isle, picking up the win and allowing 7 hits and 3 earned runs.
After falling behind 4-2 in game two, Dean scored six straight runs to take control of the game and salvage a split on the afternoon. Daniel Blazejewski led the Bulldogs with two triples and 3 RBI.
The fourth inning was the catalyst for Dean. Blazejewski openeed the scoring with an RBI triple. Javier Garmon then doubled to center scoring Blazejewski. Christopher Wood followed with a fielders choice that plated Garmon.
Jason Bottone pitched 7 innings, allowing 4 runs on 4 hits and picking up the win.
