WINTHROP, Mass. – The Dean College men's lacrosse team has been selected to finish in fifth place in this year's Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) preseason poll, as voted by the conference's head coaches.
The Bulldogs received 106 total votes in this year's poll, placing them amongst the top five in the conference. Dean has been voted to finish in the top five for three consecutive years.
Men's lacrosse enters 2026 in search of their fifth consecutive postseason appearance. Dean made the GNAC tournament last year but fell in overtime to Emmanuel College (Mass.) in the first round.
Head Coach
Matt Schairer enters his ninth season at the helm of the men's lacrosse program. With an impressive 68-33 record as Head Coach, Schairer will be in search of career win number 75. He's joined by program alumnus
Aidan McCarthy, who enters his first season as Assistant Coach. Alumni
Jason Richard and
Chris Carbone also return to the program as Assistant Coaches.
Several key returners will re-take the field this season for the Bulldogs. Junior
Manny Alvarez-Segee (Saugus, Mass.) takes over the reins on offense and will lead a dynamic core. Alvarez-Segee totaled an impressive 67 points across 16 games last season.
Face-off specialist
Josh Hackett (Orange, Conn.) also returns for his second season inside the circle. As a freshman, Hackett finished top five in the GNAC in face-off victories (184-340).
In addition to the returners, the Bulldogs added a versatile group of first-year athletes to the roster. Long-stick midfielder
Ronan Cafferty (Whitman, Mass.) leads the way after a decorated career at Whitman-Hanson Regional High School.
The Bulldogs open the 2026 season on Saturday, February 14
th, against Anna Maria College. They play a total of 16 regular season games, including 12 GNAC contests.
