Franklin, MA- Men's Volleyball freshman
Mason Rua has climbed his first career milestone, surpassing 100 total digs on the season. With this accomplishment, Rua has also picked up his first Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Honor Roll selection.
Since Rua's arrival to the program, he has been a vital member to the men's volleyball rotation. As Libero, Rua is currently averaging nine digs per match, with a season-high 25 digs on February 1
st (Vermont State Johnson, Game 2). As a total, the libero has 117 digs on the year. Rua is also averaging just over one assist per match.
To add the frosting to the cake, Rua has only recorded one error during his entire freshman season.
"The feeling of hitting 100 digs, this quickly into my freshman season, is amazing," Rua expressed. "I couldn't do it without my teammates and coaches. They are the ones that push me to be a better player every game, and they fuel my desire to put everything I have into every game. Moving forward, I will constantly improve alongside them and hopefully more milestones come along with time."
Rua originally hails from São Pedro Du Sol, Portugal. At Greater New Bedford Vocational Technical School, he was a three-time station-vocational champion with men's volleyball.
Men's volleyball returns to action on March 6
th with a road trip to Regis College. For more information on Rua and the men's volleyball team, please visit
