THE LEAD:
Louis Piccolo
(Foxboro, Mass.) opened his sophomore season with a six-goal, two-assist performance and Dean College posted an 11-5 win over Husson University in non-league men's lacrosse action on a chilly Grant Field on Saturday afternoon.

The win for the Bulldogs gives then a 15-4 home record over the past three seasons, including their third straight triumph over the Eagles.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Dean opened the contest with the first three goals of the game with Piccolo setting up Christopher Wendt (Boonton, N.J.), then Nick Dunn (Malden, Mass.) recorded an unassisted strike and finally Piccolo got his first of the day to complete the run.

Husson, meanwhile, responded with three straight of their own as Gunner McAllister, Jaden Wells and Roman Dennis sent the game into the second quarter tied at 3-3.

The three goal burst continued when the Bulldogs got a tally from Christian Billingsley (Saugus, Mass.) and then two more from Piccolo to give them a 6-3 advantage.

Husson was able to close the gap before the half when McAllister scooped up a free ball just after the midfield stripe and raced into the offensive zone and recorded his second of the half with 43 seconds left in the period.

Piccolo had the only goal of the third quarter, when Tyler Minor (Warwick, R.I.) fed him for his fourth of the afternoon.

The Dean offense continued to extend their advantage when Jonathan Kroposki (Hollis, N.H.) found Piccolo for another. Piccolo then made the pass of the game, delivering an assist on the doorstep for Greg Centeio (Fairhaven, Mass.), who registered his first collegiate score.

Now in front 9-4, the Bulldogs saw Gabriel Bergeron trim their lead down to 9-5, but the Cardinal and White got the final two scores – one from Piccolo and the other from Minor – to put the game away.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Alex Govoni (Lakeville, Mass.) turned aside 20 shots and scooped up four ground balls for Dean, while Piccolo's six goals pushes his career total to 50.

UP NEXT:
The Bulldogs are off until next Saturday when they host Saint Joseph's of Connecticut at 2:00 PM.
