Men's Volleyball Sweeps Pratt Twice in Doubleheader, 3-0, 3-0

THE LEAD:
The Dean College Bulldogs won their first two games of the season on Saturday, sweeping Pratt Institute 3-0 in both bills of the doubleheader on Saturday in Franklin, Mass. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Game 1:
After an even start to the opening set, Dean ripped of six straight points to turn an 11-7 lead into 17-7 decisive advantage.  The Bulldogs never looked back from there, cruising to a 25-13 set win. 

Dean raced out to a 7-2 and 10-5 opening lead and outpaced Pratt throughout the second frame, finishing with another 25-13 set victory. 

Dean scored the first seven points of set three to take a commmanding initial lead, but Pratt roared back scoring six straight to cut the lead to 7-6.  The Bulldogs responded with another run of their own, scoring six straight to take a controlling lead at 13-6.  Dean maintained their cushion throughout the set and sailed to a 25-17 set and match win.

Game 2:

A 7-0 Bulldog run turned a tight 10-8 opening game into a 17-8 dominating advantage, as Dean held on for a 25-16 win to start the second game of the doubleheader.  

In the closest game of the day, Dean led 17-15 late in set two before rattling off six of seven points to take a 23-16 lead that they later converted to a 25-17 set win.

The Bulldogs slammed the door in set three of the nightcap, jumping out to a 13-6 lead and cruising to a 25-12 win. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Aaron Brody (Webster, Mass.) led the Bulldog offense with 11 kills and 13 points in game one, while Tyler Martins (East Providence, R.I.) paced play with 20 assists.  Brody's eight kills again led the Bulldogs in game two, with John Kauffman (East Providence, R.I) adding six kills and Aaron Rivers (Punta Gorda, Fla.) contributing 12 digs.  Martins again guided the offense, registering 16 assists in the nightcap.

Dean hosts Eastern Nazarene on Monday night at 5:30 p.m in Neew England Collegiate Conference (NECC) action.
