THE LEAD:
Dean College sprinted out to a 7-0 lead and the Bulldogs, playing in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) for the first time this season, knocked off Becker College, 16-4, to lay claim to the 2018 NECC regular season championship.

The victory for Dean gives them the overall top seed in next Saturday's NECC Championship game – a contest they will host at a time to be determined later. Their opponent will be either Becker or Mitchell, depending on who wins their matchup this coming Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
After a slow start offensively for both teams, Dean broke the scoring seal with strikes from Anthony Trasacco (Cheshire, Conn.) and Colin Hinrichs (Greenwich, Conn.) less than 30 seconds apart midway through the first period.

Hinrichs then set up Brody Fredericks (Weare, N.H.) for his first of the afternoon a few minutes later, sending the Bulldogs to a 3-0 advantage after the first period.

Dean's offense continued to click in the second period as they scored three man-up goals courtesy of Hinrichs, Connor Rooney (Jamestown, R.I.) and Zach D'Angelo (Chelmsford, Mass.).

The Bulldogs then tacked on another goal before halftime as the league's most dangerous duo – Frederick and Hinrichs – teamed up Hinrichs' 43rd goal of the season.

Blake Gordon (East Greenbush, N.Y.) fed Avyay Chaganty (Bridgewater, N.J.) for the Hawks' first goal of the afternoon less than a minute into the second half, but Dean responded with four straight goals – two from Fredericks, another from Trasacco and the last one from Marcus Richardson (Newton, Mass.).

Chaganty and Cruz Desrochers (Malden, Mass.) put together back-to-back goals for Becker as the third quarter wound down, but Fredericks connected with Trasacco before the quarter ended, making the score 12-3.

The Bulldogs opened up the fourth quarter with four more goals as Fredericks, Trasacco (2) and Rooney added to the Dean offensive output.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Dean was excellent on special teams, going 3-for-3 with the man advantage and went 25-for-27 on clear attempts.

Several Bulldogs had standout performances, led by Trasacco who pumped in five goals for the second time this season, while Fredericks had four goals and three assists. Meanwhile, James Lovely (Hopedale, Mass.) handed out five assists and Hinrichs ended with three goals and two assists.

UP NEXT:
Dean will now have ten days off before returning to the field for the NECC Championship.
