THE LEAD:
Anthony Trasacco (Cheshire, Conn.) exploded for six goals and a pair of assists as Dean College raced past Thomas College, 15-2, in non-league men's lacrosse action on Wednesday afternoon.
The win for the host Bulldogs is their third straight and they have now outscored their last two opponents by a combined score of 32-5.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Dean scored the game's first seven goals, including five in the first quarter highlighted by two goals less than 20 seconds apart from Brody Fredericks (Weare, N.H.) and Trasacco.
After Fredericks and Trasacco scored in the first five minutes of the second quarter, there was no scoring for nearly eight minutes of action until the Terriers' Pat Meyers fed Jonathan Wilcox for Thomas' first goal of the afternoon.
Ahead 7-1 to begin the third period, Dean put the game away with five consecutive strikes as Fredericks, Connor Rooney (Jamestown, R.I.), Trasacco (2) and Colin Hinrichs (Greenwich, Conn.) all found the back of the net.
The Terriers second goal of the game came in the waning moments of the third when Colby Blondin tallied an unassisted marker with 1:11 left in the period.
Dean closed the game with three goals in the fourth on scores from James Lovely (Hopedale, Mass.), Trasacco and Rooney.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Making his second consecutive start, Dillon Poignant (Somers, N.Y.) made ten saves in the cage for the Bulldogs, who controlled the faceoff spot with Juniel Jordan (Kingston, Mass.), Korey Gendreau (Dighton, Mass.) and Joe White (South Easton, Mass.) combining to win 15 of 20.
In addition to Trasacco's monster afternoon, Fredericks (three goals, three assists), Hinrichs (two goals, three assists) and Lovely (two goals, one assists) all had standout performances.
The Bulldog defense was stellar as well, causing 11 turnovers and holding Thomas to 0-for-10 on their man-up opportunities.
UP NEXT:
Dean is back in action on Saturday when they take part in the opening round of the Hampton Inn Bulldog Classic against SUNY-Canton. Faceoff is slated for 1:00 p.m.
