THE LEAD:
Colin Hinrichs found the back of the cage with 1:11 left in overtime and visiting Dean College opened their 2018 season with a thrilling 11-10 extra session win over Regis College in non-league men's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon.

The goal for Hinrichs was his game-high fourth marker of the game and gave the Bulldogs the victory despite being outshot 44-32 and outscored 4-1 in the fourth quarter by the host Pride.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Things started out in fine fashion for Dean as they jumped out to a 3-0 first quarter lead as Anthony Trasacco (Cheshire, Conn.), Hinrichs and Brody Fredericks (Weare, N.H.) all recorded goals in the first seven minutes of the game.

Regis answered back with three straight scores of their own, highlighted by a man-up marker from Collin Spillane early in the second quarter.

The run of goals moved over to Dean as both Trasacco and Hinrichs notched their second tallies of the afternoon with help from Fredericks and James Lovely (Hopedale, Mass.), respectively.

The Bulldogs eventually went into intermission in front 6-4 courtesy of the Fredericks and Trasacco combination connecting for Trasacco's third goal of the half.

Over a large portion of the third quarter the teams traded goals as Hinrichs and Fredericks scored for Dean and Calvin Brault and Spillane netted tallies for the Pride.

The Bulldogs pushed their lead out to 9-6 late in the third quarter when Trasacco fed Marcus Richardson (Newton, Mass.) for a man-up score.

Their advantage continued to grow in the opening moments of the fourth as Fredericks became the third Bulldog to notch a hat trick on an unassisted marker with 11:08 left in the period.

Amazingly, Regis ran off four straight goals – the last coming with 2:41 left in regulation from Michael Daras that knotted the game at 10-10 forcing the extra session.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Madison Olsen
(Norton, Mass.) made 18 saves in the cage for the Bulldogs and added a huge groundball pickup after a Tim Oroszco (Milford, Conn.) caused turnover in front of the goal late in regulation.

In addition to Hinrichs' four goals, Fredericks added three goals and three assists and Trasacco totaled three goals and two assists.

UP NEXT:
The Bulldogs are back in action on Wednesday when they play host to Wentworth beginning at 3:00 PM.
