THE LEAD:
The Dean College Bulldogs used a balanced attack to make quick work of visiting Bay Path, racing to a 3-0 victory in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) play on Friday night in Franklin, Mass.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Dean broke open a tight first set with nine straight points, turning an 11-9 lead into a 20-9 advantage. The Bulldogs carried the momentum to a 25-11 set win.
The second set was a back and forth affair throughout. Tied at 15, Bay Path scored four of the next five points to take a 19-16 lead, but the Bulldogs roared back, ripping off nine of the final 12 points for a 25-22 victory.
The Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead in the final set, leading 4-1 before Bay Path rallied to take the lead back. Trailing 20-18, the Bulldogs took a timeout. Dean responded with seven straight points to take the game and the set, earning their first NECC victory of the season.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Nicole Defosses (Colorado Springs, Colo.) led the way for Dean with a double-double, notching 16 digs and 14 assists while also adding three kills. Kait Anderson (Clinton, Conn.) powered the Bulldogs offense with six kills while Samantha Trullo (Chelmsford, Mass.) and Miranda Marquez (San Pedro, Calif.) both added four. Melanie Rios-Nevarez (Vega Alta, Puerto Rico) registered three kills and added 11 digs.

THE LEAD:
Becker College used a balanced offensive attack and the host Hawks swept past Dean College, 3-0, in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) women's volleyball action on Tuesday evening.
Kayla Dupree (nine) and Gillian Criddle (eight) combined for 17 kills and setter Olivia McGuinness recorded 25 assists and 11 digs to lead the Hawks to their second straight win.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The opening set was tied at 10-10 when Becker recorded five straight points to take control of the set on their way to a 25-22 victory.
Amazingly, the middle frame was tied at 10-10 when the Hawks went on a similar scoring spree, this time moving ahead 14-11 before settling for a 25-19 triumph.
In the final set, the score was all square at 15-15 when the Hawks built a 21-16 advantage following a Megan Gould service ace.
Kills from Paola Gonzalez (Southbridge, Mass.) and Kait Anderson (Clinton, Conn.) brought the Bulldogs closer but it was not meant to be as Criddle and Veronica Patella-Quinones sealed the match with kills.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Melanie Rios-Nevarez (Alta Vega, Puerto Rico) led the Dean offensive attack with eight kills, while both Anderson and Gonzalez had seven each.
Nicole Defosses (Colorado Springs, Colo.) dished out 21 assists to go along with her 12 digs, while Samantha Trullo (Chelmsford, Mass.) finished with a match-best 22 digs of her own.

Dean returns to action on Friday when they play host to NECC rival, Bay Path. First serve is set for 6:00 p.m.
