Box Score Cambridge, MASS.- Dean College Men's Volleyball earned their first win in program history on Monday night, defeating Lesley University 3-1 in Cambridge, MA.
The Bulldogs battled back from a big deficit early. After losing the first set 25-19, Coach Natalie Cohen called a timeout with the Bulldogs trailing 19-17 in the second set. Dean rattled off 4 of the next 5 points, with a kill from Justin Freitas giving them the lead at 21-20. Moments later, a kill from Gabriel McClain pushed the Bulldog lead to 24-21 and Dean held on for a 25-23 set win.
Dean trailed in the third set as well. Down 21-18, the Bulldogs scored the next 5 points, highlighted by two service aces from McClain. Up 25-24, a service error from Dean knotted the score at 25. Back to back errors from the Lynx gave Dean the set at 27-25.
The Bulldogs raced out to a 16-12 lead in the fourth and final set, but the Lynx battled back, cutting the lead to 16-15. Dean responded by scoring 6 of the next 7 points to lead 22-16, capped by back to back kills from Dean Bennett and and Justin Frietas (both assisted by Kyle Lameiras). The Bulldogs held on to win the final set 25-17.
Dean was led by 10 kills from Moussa Seck. Freitas added 7 and Bennett had 6. Lameiras had 21 assists and McClain led the way with 13 digs. Pepe Vieira also contributed 10 digs.
The win improves the Bulldogs to 1-3 on the season. The loss drops Lesley to 0-5.
