THE LEAD:
Playing their second match in as many nights, the Dean College Bulldogs controlled play from the start and avenged last night's heartbreaking loss, defeating the Fitchburg State Falcons 3-0 on Thursday night at Parkinson Gym in Fitchburg, Mass.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Tied at 11 in the opening set, Dean scored 14 of the next 18 points to cruise to a 25-15 win. Two kills from Aminah Tsonga (Plainville, Conn.) and one each from Paola Gonzalez (Southbridge, Mass.) and Melanie Rios-Nevarez (Vega Alta, Puerto Rico) highlighted the Bulldogs run.
The visiting Bulldogs raced out to a 14-2 lead in set two and never looked back, winning 25-8. Kaitlyn Anderson (Clinton, Conn.) punctuated the victory with a set-ending kill.
A 3-3 tie quickly turned into an 11-3 Bulldog lead in the final set, as Dean closed in on a match victory. A late run from the Falcons narrowed a 24-18 gap to two, but Dean held on for the victory after a Fitchburg attack error and won the match 3-0.
