THE LEAD:
Powered by a pair of student-athletes who recorded double-doubles, a suddenly surging Dean College women's volleyball team made quick work of Massachusetts Maritime Academy, 3-0, on Monday evening.

The win for the Cardinal and White is their third victory in their last four matches as they continue to inch towards the .500 mark on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The first set was relatively close most of the way until a scoring burst from the Bulldogs gave them some separation highlighted by a Kaitlyn Anderson (Clinton, Conn.) service ace, a kill from Sami Mulcahy (Taunton, Mass.) and two kills from Aminah Tsonga (Plainville, Conn.).

Tsonga got hot in the second set recording five of her kills in the frame and after Marie Harrison collected a kill for the hosts, Dean ran off the final six points as Mulcahy and Tsonga closed out the set with kills.

The Buccaneers took an 8-5 lead in the third set but the Bulldogs would go on an 11-3 scoring spree that turned their deficit into a 16-11 lead as they took advantage of six Massachusetts Maritime miscues during the run.

Anderson then helped the Cardinal and White close out the set and the match with a trio of kills down the stretch, including the match-sealing point – her 251st kill of the season.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Anderson (16 kills, 16 digs) and Melanie Rios-Nevarez (Vega Alta, Puerto Rico) (29 assists, 14 digs) each had big nights, while Tsonga ended with ten kills and nine digs and Mulcahy recorded a season-best six kills and 16 digs.

UP NEXT:
The busy week for the Dean continues when they play their final home match of the season against Lesley University on Wednesday evening at 7:00 PM.
