Lisbon, Portugal- The Portuguese National Women's Lacrosse Team announced that Dean College women's lacrosse alumnus
Nina Medeiros (Fairhaven, MA) made their 2025 Heritage Cup Roster. This is the first time in program history a player has gone to play in a global event.
Medeiros, recently graduating Dean with honors, mounted an impressive four-year career with the Bulldogs. She started all 64 games of her career, securing 102 goals, 25 assists, and 127 points. She also amounted an impressive 232 ground balls throughout her career.
The Fairhaven, Massachusetts native was one of few players to reach 100 career points in program history, along with 100 career goals. In addition, she became the first player in program history to reach 300 career draw controls, shattering the previous record held by alumnus Maire Brown (Huntington, NY).
Medeiros was recently named the Peter Hexter '66 Campus Involvement Award winner, symbolizing a student-athlete's dedication to both athletics & extra-curricular activities.
Throughout her career, she is a two-time Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) All-Academic Team selection, two-year team captain, 2024 Program Most Valuable Player, 2024 IWLCA Academic Honor Roll Selection, and 2024 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District At-Large selection.
The 2025 Heritage Cup took place from May 23-26, located in Boston, Massachusetts. The tournament was in a variety of venues, finishing with a championship game at Lasell University. The #3 seeded Portugal was eliminated by Wales in the second round. They defeated PHL White in the preliminary game.
