Winthrop, MA- The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) has announced that three Dean College women's lacrosse players have made the all-conference roster. Both
Emma Mock (Tunkhannock, PA) and
Shea Cassani (Belgrade, ME) earned third-team honors, while
Natalie Zona (Auburn, MA) made the All-Sportsmanship team.
Mock, now in her second season playing women's lacrosse, made a major jump in her game. In 16 starts for the Bulldogs, Mock finished with 37 points, including 26 goals and 11 assists. Nearly 70 percent of her shots were also on-goal, one of the highest percentages on the team. Mock also ended with season within the conference's top 40 in points scored and top 30 in assists.
A dual-sport athlete (field hockey), Mock was previously named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-Academic Squad and earned NFHCA Scholar of Distinction honors.
On the other side of the field, Cassani finished the season as one of the conference's best goalkeepers. In 11 starts for the Bulldogs, Cassani finished with a GNAC-best 52.8 save percentage, as well as 151 saves (4
th, conference). The sophomore also recorded the best performance of her career this season, recording 27 saves on close to 50 shots faced against Simmons University on April 27
th.
Cassani was previously named GNAC Goalkeeper of the Week this season for her impressive efforts in goal.
Natalie Zona has officially earned her first All-Sportsmanship honors after a strong sophomore campaign. While the defender did not record any shots on-goal, she played a pivotal role in keeping the Bulldogs' defense intact. Zona also recorded 22 cause turnovers, ranking top 20 in the conference.
