Medford, MA- After securing their first GNAC Championship in program history, the Dean College Field Hockey team heads into round one of the NCAA National Tournament. They will face the Tufts University Jumbos, with the winner advancing into this weekend's bracket at Bates College.

The Cinderella story continues for Dean, who is coming off their largest win in program history. The Bulldogs defeated the Colby-Sawyer College Chargers last Saturday afternoon by a final score of 3-1. They swept through all three rounds of the GNAC Tournament, taking down Rivier University and New England College in the preceding rounds.
Dean, who secured the number one seed in the GNAC Tournament, outscored their opponents 10-4 in the postseason. They also held their opponents to a combined 35 shots through the three games.
In the regular season, the Bulldogs finished with a 13-7 overall record, with a 9-1 record in the conference. In 30 percent of their regular season games, Dean scored at least five goals. They also scored at least seven goals in nearly 20 percent of those contests.
On their opponent's side, Tufts University earns an at-large bid into the big dance after being upset in the NESCAC Tournament. They were defeated by Wesleyan University, who also earned an at-large bid.
The Jumbos, ranked sixth in the nation during the regular season, are searching for their second national championship in program history. This year, they have outscored opponents by a staggering 54 goals to 19. They've also held their opponents to just over one goal per game.
The winner of this preliminary round will face the winner of Vassar College and Williams College. The game will take place at Bates College, located in Lewiston, Maine. Game-time for round two is set for 2:00PM EST.
