New Haven, CT- The Dean College Men's Golf team ended day two of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championships on Wednesday. The team finished 6th place overall, with two players finishing in the top 20.
Freshman
Troy Evans (Riverview, FL) ended as the top golfer for Dean at the end of the tournament. The rookie ended with a combined score of 164 (+24). He shot an 85 on day one, and an impressive 79 (+9) on day two. His score on day two also included seven pars and a birdie. Evans' score is a new personal record, with his previous best being +11 from the Rhode Island College Invitational.
Case LaChance (Latham, NY) ended as the team's second-highest scorer. LaChance finished the tournament +25, turning in a day two score just under Evans (76). After breaking his driver yesterday, LaChance rallied back to end his performance on an impressive note.Â
Both
Benjamin Godburn (Montville, CT) and
Matt Brangiforte (Wrentham, MA) both ended the tournament at +31 overall. Godburn finished day two with a score of 83, including six pars and a birdie. Meanwhile, Brangiforte ended day two with an 87, including two pars.Â
Dawson DiBarri (Swampscott, MA) ended the tournament +50 overall, scoring four pars during his day two effort. He also finished two strokes lower than his day one score.
As a team, the Bulldogs finished just three strokes below a top-five finished at +111. Saint Joseph's College of Maine took that spot at +108. Meanwhile, Dean did finish 87 strokes ahead of Elms College and 119 strokes in front of Mitchell College. New England College would secure their second straight GNAC title.
