New Haven, CT- The Dean College Men's Golf team ended day one of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championships in sixth place. They currently sit ahead of two teams heading into day two, and ten strokes behind a top-five finish.
Senior
Matt Brangiforte (Wrentham, MA) leads the team in scoring, finishing round one tied for 16th place. He turned in a score of 84, finishing 14 over the course's par of 70. He score comprised of a 40 (+6) on the front nine, and a 44 (+8) on the back.Â
Freshman
Troy Evans (Riverview, FL) would turn in the team's second-best score, finishing 19th overall. Evans finished right behind Brangiforte with an 85 (+15). He ended with a 44 (+10) on the front nine, and a 41 (+5) on the back. He also scored two par's and one birdie in the round (hole 18).
Sophomore
Benjamin Godburn (Montville, CT) would end round one with a score of 88 (+18). His finish currently sits at 24th place (tied with Finn Manning of SJCME).
Case LaChance (Latham, NY) would turn in a score of 89 (+19) on the day. However, LaChance caught misfortune on the front nine, breaking his driver and being forced to use a five-wood for long range shots.
Dawson DiBarri (Swampscott, MA) would finish +26 on the round and end in 32nd place.Â
The Bulldogs will look to improve on their round one scores and secure a top-five finish. As mentioned, they currently sit ten strokes behind Saint Joseph's College of Maine.
