THE LEAD:
Albertus Magnus used separate first half scoring runs of seven and five to seize control of the game early on and the host Falcons posted an 18-6 win over Dean College in non-league women's lacrosse action on Tuesday evening.

Lauryn Wilks (Hartford, Conn.) scored four goals for the Bulldogs but it was Albertus Magnus' Courtney Cacace who was the star of the evening as finished with eight scores, overshadowing her teammate Alix Hughes' five goals.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The two teams traded early goals as Hughes found the back of the net less than 90 seconds into the game, while Wilks answered back for Dean a little more than a minute later.

With the score knotted, the Falcons scored seven in a row before Makayla Fisher (Irvington, N.J.) could get one on the board for Dean, making the score 8-2.

Another scoring spree ensued for Albertus Magnus – this time it was five in a row – before a free-position shot from Wilks sent the Bulldogs into halftime down 14-3.

Cacace scored the first two goals of the second half for the Falcons, but Dean had two goals from Wilks and another from Genesis Johnson (Norwalk, Conn.) to get them to within ten at 16-6. The Bulldogs never scored again as Cacace recorded another score as did Hughes.

UP NEXT:
The Bulldogs are slated to be back in action on Thursday when they visit Saint Joseph's of Connecticut beginning at 4:30 p.m.
