NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Dean College women's lacrosse team was halted in their Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contest with Norwich University on Saturday afternoon by a final score of 20-1. With the conference loss, Dean drops to 3-12 (2-9 GNAC), while the Cadets improved to 12-3 (9-3 GNAC).
How it Happened:
-Caitlyn Fielder and Athena Merck led the way for Norwich's attack, with both posting four-point performances.
-The Cadets kept the Bulldogs off the board until the latter moments of the fourth quarter. Senior
Allie Stockwell (Burrillville, R.I.) found the back of the net, unassisted, with just under nine minutes remaining in regulation.
-Goalkeeper
Shea Cassani (Belgrade, Maine) showed impressive prowess in the crease, making 11 saves on 40 shots faced (31 SOG).
-Both sides also played a clean game, with just three cards drawn throughout the entire contest. Only one of those cards was yellow.
-Norwich scored one more time with 70 seconds remaining to take the win by a final score of 20-1.
