THE LEAD:
Rhode Island College raced out to a 13-1 halftime lead on their way to a 20-1 win over Dean College in non-league women's lacrosse action on Monday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The visiting Anchorwomen got their offense rolling with three goals in the game's first three minutes as Jessica Trautman, Hannah Ambrosia and Madison McKenna all found the back of the net.
Rhode Island College then got two scores from Giana Ritchie less than two minutes apart to give the visitors a 5-0 advantage.
Dean got on the board when Lauryn Wilks (Hartford, Conn.) bullied her way through the defense and scored from out in front of the net with 24:11 left to play in the first half.
Undeterred, the Anchorwomen kept scoring as Ritchie recorded three more strikes and Trautman added two of her own before the half ended.
Ahead 13-1 to start the second half, Rhode Island College got markers from Natalie Kulacz, Ambrosia, Alexia Peloquin, Ritchie, Trautman and two from Alasondra Apici in the final 30 minutes to collect the first win for new head coach Jessica Sheil.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
Ritchie had a monster afternoon, totaling six goals and an assist, while Trautman added four scores of her own.
In addition to Wilks' score in the first half, Dean also got eight saves from Na'Neq Holley (Griffin, Ga.).

Dean is back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Husson for a 4:00 PM start against the Eagles.
