Box Score

FRANKLIN, Mass.- Angelina Taylor's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 7th inning scored Alexis Brown from third and gave the Dean College Bulldogs a walk off victory in their opening game of the season.  The win, 10-9 over Bay Path University, was the first under new head coach Alyssa Krause.

Courtney Holden started the final inning with a walk.  Santana Aragon entered the game as a pinch runner.  Brown then came to the plate with the Grant Field crowd on it's feet and belted a game tying triple, setting the stage for Taylor's game winning sacrifice fly.

Dean fell behind in the first, when Keyla Oliveras scored on an error to give Bay Path a 1-0 lead.  The Bulldogs bounced back with three runs in the bottom of the first.  After a walk by Melanie Rios Nevarez and a single by Karissa Menzinger, Holden singled scoring Nevarez.  Brown then hit a line drive to right that was dropped and scored Holden and Menzinger.

Bay Path scored 4 in the fourth inning to take command of the lead again, capped by a triple from Lilly West and doubles from Taylor Feraco and Marissa Sarna-McCarthy.

Bay Path scored 4 more in the fifth, powered by two home runs.  Lauren Vallee opened the inning with a solo blast, and Katrina Peck hit a three run homer, scoring West and Sarna-McCarthy.  Dean responded in the bottom of the inning with three runs of their own.  A double from Menzinger scored Nevarez, a single from Holden scored Menzinger, and Taylor's ground out plated Ashley Andes.

One run from Dean in the bottom of the sixth, and a perfect 7th inning from Taylor on the mound, set the stage for the final inning heroics.

Taylor pitched a complete game giving up nine hits, nine runs ( six earned), striking out five and walking two.

Goodhart took the loss for Bay Path, pitching a complete game as well and allowing eleven hits, ten runs (eight earned), striking out seven, and walking three.

Dean led 7-6 in the second game of the doubleheader before it was called due to darkness.  The remainder of the game will be rescheduled for a later date.

Dean next plays at home on Saturday, in a doubleheader vs. Daniel Webster starting at 12:00 PM.

Bay Path travels to St. Josephs (CT) next Thursday for a 3:00/ 5:00 doubleheader.
