Box Score

Franklin, MASS.-  Led by four starters in double figures, Dean College men's basketball raced to a 106-83 victory over Maine-Augusta on Thursday.

The Bulldogs got contributions from across the board, but they were guided by Naquwan Solomon, Aziz Gilliam, and John Lambert.  Solomon had 22 points to lead Dean, while adding 5 boards, 4 asissts, and 3 steals.

Gilliam and Lambert both scored 16, and Justin White scored 10 while pitching in 6 steals, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists.

Dean trailed 9-8 with 3 minutes gone by in the first half, before ripping off an 21-4 run to give them themselves a 29-13 lead halfway through the first half.

A layup from Jordon Holmes cut the lead to 12 with a minute to go, and Dean ended up going into the locker room up 52-38.  Solomon had 14 points in the first half and the Bulldogs shot 47% from the field, despite shooting 1-11 from 3 point range.

Two layups each from Solomon and Lambert ballooned the lead to 70-45 early in the 2nd half.  On the ensuing possession, Solomon made a steal and then got the ball back from Gilliam, finishing the fast break with a thunderous jam that brought the crowd to its feet.

A jumpshot by Steve Tankou pushed the lead to 80-59 before Dustin Simpson-Bragg caught fire for Maine-Augusta.  Simpson-Bragg scored 39 points on 12-17 shooting, including 5-6 from deep.  He scored 26 points in the second half alone.

But it was not enough for the Moose, as the Bulldogs coasted for the win.

In addition to Simpson-Bragg, Maine-Augusta also got contributions from Holmes, who scored 21.  Noah Thompson had 8 points and 9 boards.

The win gets Dean back in the win column at 10-8 and drops Maine-Augusta to 3-13.
