Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Slow Start in First Half Hinders Men’s Basketball at Home Versus Saints, 73-61

FRANKLIN, Mass. – The Dean College Men's Basketball team was defeated by Emmanuel College (Mass.) on Wednesday night inside Pieri Gymnasium. With the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) loss, Dean falls to 15-7 (5-4 GNAC), while the Saints improve to 11-11 (5-4 GNAC).

How it Happened:
-Dean got on the board first with a quick layup from senior Christian Yeates (Atlanta, Ga.). In fact, Yeates scored four of Dean's first six points. Randy Vasquez (Methuen, Mass.) had the other score.
-However, the Bulldogs quickly stalled following Vasquez's basket. Emmanuel responded by going on an impressive 16-2 run led by guard Mahari Guerrier.
-Dean found their footing with consecutive scores from Izayah Porter (Jonesboro, Ga.). Yeates also contributed to the response.
-Despite one last push in the first half, Dean's 8-36 shooting resulted in their early deficit, 40-20.
-The Bulldogs came out firing to the start the second half. Cedric Louis (West Palm Beach, Fl.) scored the first basket of an 11-2 run. This also included crucial scores from Yeates, Vasquez, and Donnary Fontenot (Atlanta, Ga.).
-Dean eventually brought the lead within ten points and forced Emmanuel to call a timeout. With confidence on their side, the Bulldogs found themselves within striking distance.
-However, Emmanuel grabbed their footing after the brief recess. Noah Beaudet and Manny Duran led another strong effort by the Saints, knocking down multiple scores from beyond the arc. Within a flash, the Saints once again had a twelve-point advantage.
-In the final moments of the game, Dean activated their reserves from the bench. Semar Flugence (Lafayette, La.) impressed in the remaining four minutes. The first-year forward scored his first collegiate points while securing three rebounds. He finished fourth in team scoring.
-While Dean's bench shined in the final minutes, the result remained the same. Emmanuel took the conference win with a final score of 73-61.
