FRANKLIN, Mass. – The Dean College men's soccer team showed a resilient effort on Sunday afternoon but fell short in non-conference play to Suffolk University by a final score of 1-0. With the decision, the Bulldogs dropped to 0-2-1, while the Rams improved to 1-1-1.
How it Happened:
-Suffolk controlled much of the early possession and generated several scoring opportunities in the opening half, but sophomore
Noah Amaral (Westport, Mass.) made three saves and the Dean defense kept the match scoreless through the first 45 minutes.
-The Bulldogs weathered sustained pressure throughout the contest, with Suffolk holding a 23-3 advantage in shots, while Amaral continued to make key stops in goal.
-Dean generated one of its best opportunities early in the second half when
Brody Cook (Syracuse, N.Y.) put a shot on target in the 51st minute. However, Suffolk goalkeeper Carter Sewell made the save to keep Dean off the board.
-The decisive moment came in the 63rd minute, when Suffolk was credited with the game's lone goal on an own goal, giving the hosts a 1-0 advantage.
-Dean continued to battle over the final minutes but was unable to find the equalizer. Suffolk held on for the one-goal final victory.
