DARTMOUTH, Mass. – The Dean College men's soccer team dropped is Wednesday evening contest to UMass Dartmouth by a final score of 2-0. With the loss, the Bulldogs dropped to 0-3-1 on the year, while the Corsairs picked up their first win of the season (1-2-1).
How it Happened:
-The Bulldogs and Corsairs played to a scoreless draw through the opening 45 minutes. Dean goalkeeper
Noah Amaral (Westport, Mass.) made several key stops during the first half to keep the match tied.
-Dean looked to create opportunities in the attacking third, with
Joon Rich (Seattle, Wash.) and
Jordan Ramsay (New York, N.Y.) leading the Bulldogs' offensive effort. Rich recorded three shots, while Ramsay added two attempts.
-
Nate Beturne (Ellington, Conn.) and
John Pordage (Wayland, Mass.) later registered one shot each as Dean continued to look for the breakthrough.
-UMass Dartmouth finally broke through in the 73rd minute, taking a 1-0 lead on a goal from Joao Pedro Dos Santos.
-Dean continued to battle and looked for an equalizer, but the Corsairs added an insurance goal in the 83rd minute off a Nick Scanlon penalty kick.
-The Bulldogs continued to compete through the final whistle, with
Ciaran Phibbs (Yonkers, N.Y.),
Ethan Zigler (Lake Worth, Fla.),
Will Chase (Charlotte, N.Y.) and
Austin Clark (Albuquerque, N.M.) holding down the backfield. However, Dean was unable to find an answer and fell to UMass Dartmouth by the 2-0 final score.
