Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Falls to Elms, 2-0

CHICOPEE, Mass. – The Dean College Men's Soccer team suffered a 2-0 defeat on the road against Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opponent Elms College on Wednesday night. The loss dropped the Bulldogs to 0-5-3 on the season (0-2-2 GNAC) while the Blazers improved to 6-1-1 (3-1-0 GNAC). 

How it Happened:  

  • Dean opened the game with a pair of corner kick opportunities within the first seven minutes, both taken by senior Ciaran Phibbs (Yonkers, N.Y.), but were unable to connect on either attempt.  

  • Elms took a 1-0 lead in the 24th minute on a strike from Ibrahim Ayouba, which they carried into the half.  

  • Dean sophomore forward Shawn Kalunga (Fall River, Mass.) created a handful of offensive opportunities throughout the first half, with two shots on goal and three shots total in the first 45 minutes. 

  • Senior goalkeeper Noah Amaral (Westport, Mass.) recorded three saves through the first 20 minutes of the second half and finished with a total of five saves in the match.  

  • The Blazers added an insurance goal in the 81st minute on a tally from Mmunga Mtabele to secure the  2-0 win.
