NEW HAVEN, Conn. – First-year
Joon Rich (Seattle, Wash.) was the hero on Wednesday night, scoring the tying goal in the 85
th minute to help the Dean College men's soccer team force a 2-2 draw against Albertus Magnus College. With the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) draw, the Bulldogs improved to 0-5-4 overall (0-2-3 GNAC), while the Falcons collected just their second draw of the season (4-4-2 / 2-0-2 GNAC).
How it Happened:
-After a scoreless opening 44 minutes, Albertus Magnus broke through just before halftime when Peter Gournaris scored at 44:13 to give the Falcons a 1-0 advantage heading into the break.
-Dean responded with a strong start to the second half and pulled even in the 70th minute.
Austin Clark (Albuquerque, N.M.) finished a chance at 69:25 off an assist from
Maxi Del Castillo (Houston, Texas), bringing the Bulldogs level at 1-1.
-Albertus regained the lead in the 82nd minute. Lorenzo Lauria converted off a Casey Rintharamy assist, putting the Falcons ahead 2-1 with less than nine minutes remaining.

Noah Amaral (Westport, Mass.) helped keep the Bulldogs within striking distance throughout the match, recording seven saves on Albertus' ten total shots on-goal.
-Dean continued to pressure the Albertus defense and earned its opportunity in the closing minutes. Rich stepped up for a penalty kick at 85:35, converting on the equalizer to make it 2-2.
-The Bulldogs' defense stood tall in the final moments, securing the draw and a point within the conference standings.
