FRANKLIN, Mass. – The Dean College women's soccer team was defeated in their season opener by Fisher College (Mass.) on Tuesday afternoon by a final score of 4-0. With the loss, the Bulldogs drop to 0-1 while the Falcons start their campaign 1-0.
How it Happened:
-The Bulldogs opened the match on the attack, securing four straight corner kicks from junior
Zia Lear (Griswold, Conn.). However, they were unable to convert on their early chances.
-Fisher secured the match's first goal in the fifteenth minute off a blast from Nada Boumkouk. Sina-Marie Rosch picked up the assist on the score.
-Just about ten minutes later, Rosch scored a goal of her own, assisted by Auguste. The Falcons now led 2-0 in the latter minutes of the first half.
-First-year
Lilly Giovannucci (Wenham, Mass.) and sophomore
Kenzie Sherburne (Durham, N.Y.) helped pick up the pace at the end of the half with two quick shots. After a series of saves, Fisher held onto their two-goal lead going into halftime.
-Fisher's Dylan Ramirez also picked up the match's only yellow card in the final minutes of the first half.
-The second half opened with physicality. Both teams combined for six fouls in the opening minutes, with Fisher holding five of them.
-In the 54
th minute, Rosch scored her second goal of the match, unassisted, to extend Fisher's lead to 3-0.
-The Falcons extended their lead in the 69
th minute off the second goal of the day for Boumkouk. Fisher now led 4-0.

Alyssa Caney (Holyoke, Mass.) and
Agata Markuns (Boxford, Mass.) both registered shots in the final minutes, but both were saved. The Falcons hung on to secure the 4-0 final shutout.
