WINTHROP, Mass. – The Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) has announced that Dean College linebacker Herman Esquivel Mendez (Chelsea, Mass.) has been named to this week's football honor roll. This is the first weekly honor of Esquivel Mendez's career.

In just two games this season, Esquivel Mendez is off to the best start of his collegiate career. During Dean's opening season against Fitchburg State University, Esquivel-Mendez led the Bulldogs with 11 total tackles and nine solo tackles. He also posted one tackle for loss (TFL).

During week two against Mass Maritime Academy, the senior posted eight total tackles, including six solo efforts that led the Bulldogs. His performance once again included one TFL.

Esquivel Mendez currently holds 19 tackles on the year and is on-pace to surpass his career high from 2023 (34.0). He already passed his 2025 total at 14.

The Chelsea, Massachusetts native graduated from Chelsea High School and played football. There, he climbed the ranks for the Red Devils, earning Rookie of the Year, Offensive Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, and Most Valuable Player, and League All-Star awards.
