Baseball Splits Crucial GNAC Doubleheader with New England College

HENNIKER, N.H. – The Dean College baseball team split their Saturday doubleheader with New England College, falling in the first game 3-2 but taking the second by a final score of 8-6. With the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) split, the Bulldogs moved to 12-8 (4-6 GNAC), while the Pilgrims shifted to 7-17 (5-5 GNAC).

The Basics

How it Happened
-Dean threatened early in the first and second innings, putting runners on base and creating scoring chances, but were unable to push a run across.
-The Bulldogs broke through in the third inning, as Gavin Goss (Glenwood Landing, N.Y.) delivered an RBI single to bring home Tyler Giambra (Prospect, Conn.) and give Dean a 1–0 lead.
-On the mound, Owen Critchley (Dayton, Maine) settled in after early traffic, working efficiently through the middle innings and keeping New England's offense in check.
-New England responded in the fourth inning, using an RBI double to even the score at 1–1.
-Dean regained the lead in the sixth inning. Nick Amendolara (Bayville, N.Y.) came through with an RBI single to score Colin Favata (Syosset, N.Y.), making it 2–1.
-The Bulldogs continued to generate offense, finishing with nine hits, including multi-hit performances from Giambra and Amendolara.
-New England answered again in the sixth inning, tying the game at 2–2 on an RBI single.
-With the game deadlocked late, Dean's pitching staff worked through pressure situations, but New England capitalized in the seventh inning with a sacrifice fly to take a 3–2 lead.
-Dean looked to respond in the final frame, but was unable to find the equalizer as New England closed out the 3-2 win.

How it Happened
-Dean wasted no time setting the tone in the early innings. Giambra reached base and sparked the offense, eventually coming around to score to give the Bulldogs an early edge.
-The Bulldogs continued to apply pressure in the second and third innings, with Goss delivering a key hit to drive in a run, while Amendolara followed with an RBI knock to extend the lead.
-Favata kept the rally going with a quality at-bat, helping Dean string together multiple baserunners and build early momentum.
-Dean added to its advantage in the middle innings, capitalizing on disciplined at-bats and situational hitting. Giambra and Jacob Paschetto (East Longmeadow, Mass.) played a role in manufacturing runs, while Dylan Altermatt (North Branford, Conn.) also grabbed another RBI.
-NEC answered with a rally of its own, cutting into the deficit with timely hits to make it a tight contest heading into the later innings.
-Dean responded in the sixth inning. Juston Horton (Trumbull, Conn.) came through with a clutch RBI to push the lead further, scoring Amendolara.  Dean now had an 8-4 advantage going into the bottom half.
-On the mound, Brazeau continued to work through pressure situations. The senior finished the day with the win, posting eight innings of work while allowing just four runs.
-The Pilgrims mounted one final push in the seventh inning, narrowing the score and putting the tying run on base.
-However, the Bulldogs remained composed and slammed the door. Lichstrahl entered to close secured the save, allowing zero runs while striking out three.  Dean walked away victorious by a final score of 8-6.
