FRANKLIN, Mass. – The Dean College baseball team swept their Monday doubleheader against Elms College, outscoring the Blazers by a combined 32-10 over the 14 innings played throughout the day. The wins boosted the Bulldogs to .500 in GNAC play at 6-6, with a 14-8 overall record. Elms dropped to 1-5 in conference play, and 7-11 overall.
Notables:
-Baseball recorded a program-high 21 hits in the second game of the doubleheader.
-Senior
Jacob Paschetto (East Longmeadow, Mass.) posted a seven-hit day between both games combined, including a home run in game one and a triple in game two. In total, Paschetto knocked in seven RBIs on the day, including six in the second game alone.
-Senior
Spencer Lichstrahl (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) also recorded seven hits between both games. He finished with six runs and three RBIs, including a home run in game one.

How it Happened
-The Bulldogs opened with a strong hitting effort through the first two frames, with home runs from
Jacob Paschetto in the first and
Spencer Lichstrahl in the second. This gave Dean a 2-0 lead through the top of the second,
-Elms responded with two runs in the bottom of the second to even the score with a sacrifice fly from Colin Faber and an RBI single from Andrew Ciago.
-After a pair of scoreless innings for both sides, Senior
Colin Favata (Syosset, N.Y.) brought in Lichstrahl with an RBI single to lift Dean above Elms 3-2 through four and a half innings.
-The Blazers had a quick response with a four-run bottom of the fifth effort. A double from Noah Scanlon-Dean that brought in two runs and an Andrew Ciaglo single that brought in another two brought Elms back into the lead at 6-3.
-Dean had a quick response in the top of the sixth inning, when an error by Elms catcher Eliam Martinez allowed Lichstrahl to score. A Paschetto single drove in Favata afterwards, and a single from Senior
Nick Amendolara (Bayville, N.Y.) scored Paschetto to even the score at 6. An overthrow by Blazers shortstop Andrew Ciagio allowed Junior
Matthew Dutton (Dublin, Ireland) and Senior
Gavin Goss (Glenwood Landing, N.Y.) to cross home and build the Bulldogs' lead to 8-6.
-The Bulldogs added an additional four runs in the top of the seventh for insurance, as Favata, Goss Dutton, and Amendolara all reached home in a variety of ways. Two scoreless innings from Senior relief pitcher
Domenic Brazeau secured the victory for the Bulldogs. Brazeau recorded three strikeouts in his two innings of work. Elms relief pitcher Sal Ortiz was charged with the loss after giving up five runs.
GAME TWO: Dean College 20, Elms College 4

How it Happened
-The Bulldogs jumped out to a dominant lead in the second innning, with a six-run effort in the top of the second spearheaded by
Nick Amendolara and
Jacob Paschetto each with two RBIs. Senior
Tyler Giambra (Prospect, Conn.) knocked in another RBI, and
Spencer Lichstrahl scored on a wild pitch, to put the Bulldogs out in-front with a 6-0 lead.
-A double from Lichstrahl and Amendolara in the top of the third brought in Dutton and Lichstrahl, respectively, and Amendolara scored on a wild pitch to put Dean up 3-0 after two and half innings.
-Elms made their mark on the scoreboard with a three-run third inning and an additional run in the fourth inning.
-A Paschetto ground out in the top of the fifth brought in Sophomore Justin Hortin (Tumbull, Conn.) in a bases loaded situation to add to Dean's lead, 10-4.
-The floodgates opened in the top of the seventh for the Bulldogs' offense: a ten-run inninng was highlighted by a 2 RBI single from Junior
Dylan Altermatt (North Branford, Conn), a 2 RBI single from
Justin Horton, a Favata hit that brought in an additional two runs on an error, a 2 RBI
Jacob Paschetto triple, and a RBI single from
Gavin Goss.
-Junior
Nick Swain completed a full-game effort on the bump, with four strikeouts and the win.
