BANGOR, Maine – The Dean College women's lacrosse team was defeated on the road by Husson University on Thursday afternoon by a final score of 12-2. With the loss, the Bulldogs dropped to 1-8 on the year (1-5 GNAC), while the Eagles improved to 6-3 overall.
How it Happened:
-Husson opened the scoring with four goals in the first quarter, applying early pressure and building a 4–0 advantage after 15 minutes of play.
-Dean worked to settle defensively, with
Natalie Zona (Auburn, Mass.) and
Rylee Jackson (East Providence. R.I.) helping slow possessions through ground ball efforts in the midfield.
-The Eagles extended the lead early in the second quarter with a pair of man-up goals to go ahead 6–0.
-The Bulldogs responded midway through the second.
Sarah Fortin (Farmington, Conn.) converted a free-position opportunity to register her first goal of the season.
-Dean continued its push later in the quarter, with
Bella McQuade (Attleboro, Mass.) finishing an extra-player chance to cut the deficit to 6–2 heading into halftime.
-Coming out of the break, Dean generated defensive stops from its back line, while
Caroline Ramsey (Shreveport, La.) and the Bulldogs worked to contest draws and regain possession.
-Husson regained momentum in the third quarter with three straight goals and added three more in the fourth, holding Dean scoreless in the second half to seal the 12-2 outcome.
